What is Ayurveda ?
Ayurveda is a traditional and millennial medicine of India practiced in many parts of the World. Ayurveda attracts more and more westerners where it is considered as an unconventional medicine. Ayurvedic medicine draws its origins from the Veda, a set of sacred texts from ancient India. It is a holistic medical approach dating from Vedic civilization and still in force today. In India, since November 2014, it has been promoted by the Ministry of Yoga founded by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The World Health Organization has recognized it since 1982 as a traditional medicine. The concept is based on the preservation of physical, mental and emotional balance.
In Ayurveda, the hygiene of everyday life — bath, washing of teeth, skin care and eye cleaning — is highly recommended. It is highly recommended to anoint the body on a daily basis with oil and make it penetrate through a self-abhyanga, a form of self-massage which, like the traditional Abhyanga practiced on the patient during the Panchakarma (purification process), will allow the drainage of toxins outward and will result in a long series of health benefits, in addition to a deep sense of well-being.
Already in Antiquity one begins to practice oral hygiene using fibrous sticks to chew, like the Siwak or Miswak, used as a Toothbrush. The stick contains disinfectants and fluorides. It is recommended in the collection of medical knowledge of the surgeon Sushruta in ancient India (ca. 500 b.c.). Simply rub your teeth with a fibrous object such as the Siwak to get rid of the dental Plaque.
Scientific research suggests a beneficial effect in strengthening the gum. An American study conducted in 2003 by the National Center for Biotechnology Information concluded that the use of Siwak is more effective than the use of a toothbrush. The World Health Organization recommends its use in 1986 and then in 2000. It also has a substance that protects the teeth against tartar.
Sacred basil oil
Also called Tulsi Basil, sacred basil oil is known and used in India for over 5000 years. Symbol of protection and strength, it is recognized as a sacred plant and honoured in Ayurvedic medicine. The essential oil produced from the steam distillation of the flowers and the plant is a powerful antioxidant, excellent anti-aging active. Its purifying and sebum-regulating effect is suitable for problem skin and it is used in cosmetic as an anti-ageing treatment for mature, tired and wrinkled skin. It moisturizes and tones the Skin.
Sesame oil is an excellent oil for maintaining a tonic epidermis! It combines the relipidant qualities of Omega-6 with the antioxydant properties due to the presence of sesame-specific molecules : sesamin and sesamolin. This beneficial action for the skin is reinforced by the presence of skin regenerating selenium.
Calophylle vegetable oil is known for its many properties, rare for a vegetable oil : anti-inflammatory, healing, anti-infectious, analgesic, stimulating blood circulation. This is why it is used in many skin problems, skin infections and muscle aches.
